I messed up with my computer and blah blah blah, this is a recap of the last two days.,

After I made my last post, I did these things that night= 7/29

Fixed 5's light

Tightened the Auto triggers on 2, in hopes that why they were not registering balls some times.

Cleaned all the turn around pans.

Adjusted the pin gate lock, reshaped the spoons (some) on 7, in hopes that would stop it from locking and not dropping the 5 pin.

Worked on 4's spider latch......again....

The moving deck cable on 4 lost all it's tension. Not sure how, I believe it feel off the Geneva pulley. I put it all back together and is fine.

Also discovered why we are having so many problems with 4. One of the screws that holds the Spider latch in place, was completely broken off. Due to the confined space, and how much really needs to come off the machine to fix this, I was not able to make it happen. So, I pulled out some ol' zip ties, and it seems sturdy enough for now.

Then, 4's problem with double dumping became unbearable. Upon further examination, i discovered that the link we used to replace the the ones that broke off on the spider latch/probe assembly, was to short. In turn, it was allowing the probe to come all the way open, allowing the pins to drop without being stopped by the blocking fingers. I tried many different things to fix it, and wasn't sure what to do. So I came back in this morning (7/31) with a new plan. It should be all working fine now, it did for me at the time.

Lane 5 also took a shit on me last night, I have since forgotten what the problem was, I apologize for the sloppy work. My brain was fried after all this crap last night. I had my blog all written out, then accidentally shut my computer down and was in no mood to rewrite it...like I am doing now. When I get to work tonight, I will look through my notes and add it in my blog tonight. Although, I did fix 5's problem, so it shouldn't really be a problem anymore.

Anyone annoyed with my obscenely long blogs yet? ha, I am.

It was the 4th inning. Pinsetters 1, Machines 0. Then, out of left field, lane 5 through a curve ball (A broken Turret Clutch drive belt)....Must I go on in baseball terms? I know more Pinsetting terms then baseballs ones. Either way, the belt broke. At the convenient same time as one of the pulleys that works with it. Not my favorite out of the turret clutch drive pulleys. Actually, I think so little of him, I don't believe he even has a name. Long story short, I replaced the belt and re attached that unimpressive pulley. A few trial and error attempts later, she works just fine. I am about to looking into ordering some more belts, being that was our last one.

In other news, lane 4 was still having the same problem it has been. So, I grabbed a hand full of...you'll never guess....ZIP TIES, and it hasn't had a problem since, but keep an eye out.

That is all the headlines from tonight, tune in again tomorrow.

Lane 7: Was having problems with deck jams and not receiving the fulldeck signal. I adjusted the Torsion trip arm and elongated it in a ghetto rigged fashion,

Lane 4: Was having a lot of peoples with the pins falling into the wrong chutes, if they even made it to a chute. A lot of deck jams were being caused and a lot of other weird things were happening. I tightened a lot of the slop, tied some shit together, did a lot of little things here and there. End result, it seems to be running fine. It ran for about 30 minutes after I adjusted everything, and it didn't have a problem. It's just the waiting game now.

Lane 1: Had problems with the ball return, the balls would get stuck on the track. This only happened once, and I looked and looked, but found no cause for it. So, keep an eye out.

Problems with lanes:
Lane 4 - Chevy's rig for the parallel links worked. I dremmeled! That is apparently spelled wrong.

Lane 5 - The turnaround pan jams have come back with a score to settle, it seems. This was the continuous problem of the night.

Lane 6 - Pit curtain kept falling off.

Actions Taken:

Unjammed 5, put the curtain back on 6.

Date:7/27 shit I thought it was the 26th.
Today was also a shit storm.
Problems with lanes:Lane 3 was continuing to get deck jams from what seemed liked double dumping. I took out 3 pins so that now it only has 19 so that it wouldn't have enough to dump on it's self. Seemed to work and ran fine the rest of the night.

Lane 4's ghetto rig broke. Chevy and I made a new less ghetto rig and it kinda works. Chevy is going to work on it tomorrow some more. The tension or something is off on the interlock probe and the pin release lever, cuz once it gets the five pin it just shits pins where ever and when ever. Took pins out so that it had more time to dump into the pin shoots.

Today was kind of a shit storm.

Lane 3 was getting some odd jams, this was due to the pins dropping long before they should. Before the deck was even on the lane. It was indeed a quick fix though, I just adjusted the moving deck cables, they were to loose.

Lane 4, Was my enemy for the night.
The parallel links that connect the spider latch to the interlock probe, well....Broke off I guess? They were not there, nor was the spring to urge it back in the locked position. The pins to hold it all together were also missing. So, I had to ghetto rig some fucked up shit, it works, but it is weird as hell. After this, I discovered that the spider was rotating way to freely, which was causing all kinds of indexing problems....ALL FUCKING KINDS(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) So I tightened the spider latch back onto the spider to help hold it all together.

Tonight was an unpleasant pain in my ass, but all in all.....They are all running once again.

Problems with lanes: This is an update on lane 8. I came in yesterday morning (the 21st) after leaving the bent bar in the vice all night to discover... It was still all kinds of messed up. So after pulling some back muscles and a couple swear words later...I came up with a strike of genius. and got the bar straight....the lane is a part of our working force....again.

And Tonight 7/22/10, has been an very good night for our Ladies, everyone worked fine. Although I did have to adjust 7's indexing trip arm, it was bent a little bit, and would sometimes now hit the Torsion Latch. But that is about all...Maybe, 5 stops all night? maybe less, either way, awesome

Problems with lanes: Don't ask my how, why, with what weapon or in what room, but the moving deck cable came off the Geneva pulley on 8, which in turn caused the moving deck to slide back much further then it ever should. The cables also fell off of the other pulleys on the blah blah blah and messed with a bunch of over stuff....sucked

Actions Taken: Put all the cables back on all the pulleys and yada yada yada.

Things to look out for (finicky lanes):The moving deck not shifting, pins dropping on the lane before the deck even reaches it.

Problem with lanes: Two days, later, and 8 day still not want to behave. Long story short.... When the rake came back to do it's sweep, the screws attaching the rake board to the rake arm on the right side (From bowlers perspective) Came loose. the rake board slide behind the drop of the lane surface and halted it's motion. The machine completed it's cycle with the rake jammed reward. Somehow, this bent a rod going from the rake hook cam to the C clamp, c arm, C whatever the fuck. So, I have been spending all evening trying to get this rod straight. It has been in the vice through out the whole night. I keep taking it out and turning it to get out all the kinks. Just a moment ago, I tried to reattach it, despite the fact it had a little bend in it still,well, no dice. This thing is just not going to work without it being straight. So after a couple of failed attempts to try different methods of straightening it out, I did a lot of drugs, banged a customer on a skee ball machine and left for the evening at 11:30...Just checking if you are still reading this long fucking blog. Anyways, it is back in the vice, yet again. I strongly believe that when it can be straightened out, it shall work and work and work, until 2 days from now when it decides to break in some other off the wall way......And to all a good night.

Problems with lanes:

Lane 2 - Came into work today and a deck jam had occurred in the 7pin slot. There were also a couple of turret jams.

Lane 5 - There was a deck jam and a turret jam.

Actions Taken:
Unjammed things! For the turret jam on 5, the turret was stuck in between two slots so I moved it to the slot that contained the pin so it would then index as it should.

Things to look out for (finicky lanes): Not much, except for the light on 5. There is a short somewhere as I replaced the bulb a few days ago. Things are running rather smooth. Thanks Danny & Chevy~

Date: 7/18/10, Although the work I'm going to talk about took place on the 17th

Problems with lanes: 2's pins....still wobbling and still....falling....over....ug

Actions Taken: I went to China town on this thing. Replaced one of the two moving deck cables, and wrapped it around it's pulley, properly. Also adjusted some other cables so assure they were on the right way as well. I came in today (the 18th) to find the pins still wobbling, not falling down near as much, but wobbling. So I made another Adjustment on the moving deck cable and tightened that hoe up....and now she purrs like a kitten.

I also made another slight adjustment on 5's turn around pan, haven't had any jams since.

Things to look out for (finicky lanes): Monsters, burglars, undercooked foods, wobbling pins, your blind spot when changing lanes and jams in the turn around pan on 5.

Problems with lanes: 7's constant miss indexing/deck jam problem + It had a problem of just stopping mid-cycle, needing to be reset.

Actions Taken: I tightened up some linkage, there was a lot of slop. Plus messed with the clutch lever, put some ghetto lock-ties on it to prevent it from disengaging it's self.

Things to look out for (finicky lanes): miss indexing, random stops

Problems with lanes:

Lane 5 - Many jams in the turnaround pan today.

Lane 7 - The turret jammed a few times, sometimes causing a deck jam or a turnaround pan jam.

Lane 8 - Today, the lane cleaner accidentally ran into the rake. Later, the front of the rake ended up falling off due to the unknown damage.

Actions Taken:
Lane 5/7 - Unjamming things everywhere!

Lane 8 - Replaced the rake board with another. Seems to be fine, may need an adjustment. Also, could be prudent to train those oiling the lanes on how to fix a jam should one occur when trying to move the shoe out of the way. A jam is what caused the rake to be stuck at the back of the lane in the first place.

Things to look out for (finicky lanes): The usual suspects of 5 & 7. 5 may need a pin guide adjustment or tightening. Perhaps that would ensure the pins make it into the turnaround pan rather than sliding between that and the turret pulley. 7's turret needs work. The full turret will skip the 5-pin, and the cross conveyor doesn't stop, causing a jam when the pin tries to drop into the full turret.

Ordering: It would be nice to get a basic inventory of springs and bolts.

Problems with lanes: 3's Ball return was acting up

Actions Taken: Adjusted the Support rods

Things to look out for (finicky lanes): Balls getting stuck on lift



Problems with lanes: 2's problem of pins wobbling and and falling over when set.

Actions Taken: Adjusted the Deck level and moving deck cables once again. I feel better about the adjustment this time in comparison with the same one I did to this machine previously. But, like we all know, this things have a mind of their own and want to destroy us all.

Things to look out for (finicky lanes): Wobbling pins

Problems with lanes:

Lane 6 - The scissors weren't picking up the 9 pin after the first ball, causing it to be swept away (if it was still standing) before the second ball.

Lane 7 - The was a jam in the turret. The turret skips the 5 pin chute, going from the 8 pin to the 6 pin (which at this point is already full.) The cross conveyor belt doesn't stop and so a pin from there gets stuck on the turret.

Lane 8 - At the very end of the night, turned it on in order to reset it to the closed position when it began making a very high pitched squealing noise. The rake become stuck and there was a burning smell though everything seemed to be moving.

Actions Taken:
Lane 6 - Got under the machine and reattached the scissors to the pivot that controls their movement. Seems to work fine now.

Lane 7 - Unjammed the pins.

Lane 8 - After getting Chevy, we decided that since it was 1:50 am to check on it in the morning.

Problems with lanes: 3's full deck signal was being canceled upon a strike detection due to the abnormal low height of it's long stroke.

Actions Taken: Adjusted the eccentric disk to change the height of the long stroke

Things to look out for (finicky lanes):

Problems with lanes: 5's turn around pan was causing jams due to it's flat and jagged right corner.

Actions Taken: Dremeled down the right corner to round and smooth it out.

Problems with lanes: 4's motor has seemed to burn out. I am not sure how this happened. All day Friday, 4 ran fine, no problems. When I left at 2AM it was set up for the next day and ready to go. When Kris cam in at 10AM the following morning, the pit curtain was off, the ball wheel belt was off, there was a ball in the pit of the machine and the motor was burning hot. She put the belt back on along with the curtain and gave it some juice. The lights cam on, but nothing else would happen. This is a very curious thing, for it does not make a whole hell of a lot of sense.


Actions Taken: I checked the wiring to the best of my ability, it all seems fine. I played with the belts and the gear box a bit, nothing seems to work. In the short while I did mess with it and turned it on and off, the motor heated up very quickly. I mean, real hot, real quick. With a temperature that surpassed the other machines which had been running for hours.

We do have a replacement motor, but something seems to be a miss. It does not have a connection for a power plug, nor does it even have the power plug. Some of the other machines seem to have a similar motor, whether these are the proper motors for the units and they just look ghetto rigged, for they are fact just ghetto rigged, I can't say. Kris has e-mailed Damon and myself a copy of the invoice for this motor. I am going to get to the bottom of this and see if it is the piece we need or not. If not, I will try to swap it out and get the right one. Either way, I have no idea how to Ghetto rig this thing, put in the proper wiring and yada yada yada. Either way, I will do the best I can to kick this problem in the ass.

A quick rundown of things I have done thus far

This is an informal blog of the things I've done since getting back from Illinois.

* Adjusted and fixed Ball return on lanes 4 and 6.

* Adjusted and reshaped the turn around pan on 5 and pin whiper.

* Changed ball wheel belts on 3, 4, and 6.

* Ghetto rigged the Ball wheel on 1, for temporary use. New Ball wheel will be ordered tomorrow.

* Took out the slop in the interlock linkage on 3

* Reshaped the the indexing trip arm on 3

* Replaced index clutch drive belt on 4

* Re leveled moving deck on 2 to prevent the pins from falling down when set.

There might have been a few things to fall through the cracks, but this is me trying to retrace all my steps from the past week +.
